CelloChanWoods"CelloChanWoods" is a unique cello retreat. Its' theme is Well- Being and the Arts and will be held in Howell, MI. at the Howell Nature Center in 2010.
Students learn beginning centering meditation, relaxation using the Trager method (http://www.tragerus.org/), and are generally silent during the morning as they sharpen concentration and focus. Trager is a way to achieve profound relaxation on a table led by our PT and Trager specialist Eileen Dickinson:
Great Lakes Trager Other relaxation exercises are used as well, some of them created by Janos Starker. There are also daily master classes and supervised individual practice inside and outside. CCW provides ample time for fun. Some of our activities are: hikes, swimming, a low ropes course, capture the flag at night, a bonfire and more. The ratio of students to counselors is roughly five to one. As this is a unique retreat style music camp with much one on one attention, the limit to each session is 16 students. The "CelloChanWoods" cello ensemble will perform on the last day of camp. Pictures of our pilot camp in 2008 can be found on the album on this page. We are already busy planning next year's camp/s and will possibly be offering an adult camp in the future. For more information, please contact Suzanne by going to the query page. By mid fall you can look for our new CelloChanWoods web site for more detail.
