cellochan Policies 2009/2010

Welcome to cellochan! These guidelines will help make your experience relaxed and focused by establishing clear procedure thus allowing me to give my attention to you or your child's musical education. I will be available to talk to you by phone or email any time the need arises throughout the year. The payment schedule for 2009/10 is as follows: Five payments a year (35 lessons total or 7 x 5) at roughly two-month intervals. A fee of $25 for concert hall and accompanist cost is charged for each of the three formal yearly concerts. Concert participation is optional.

LESSONS:

1/2 hour lesson - $39 / one payment: $273
3/4 hour lesson - $49 / one payment: $343
1-hour lesson - $59 / one payment: $413

Weekly payments will result in a higher rate:
1/2 hour lesson - $44
3/4 hour lesson - $54
1-hour lesson - $64

CHAMBER ENSEMBLES:

Participation in a cello ensemble of three or more players is offered based on the available players and levels at the start of (and throughout) the semester. Ensembles meet twice monthly at my home on Saturday mornings and perform 2 or more times a year. All Groups will be made up of 3 to 6 players and meet for one hour. Participants may request a group they wish to play in. However students will ultimately be placed in the group that will best improve his/her chamber music skills.

COST:

There are four classes in each two-month pay period totaling $76
* Missing rehearsal: If you miss more than three rehearsals a semester, you will not be eligible to play in the upcoming concert. There will be no refunds for this class.

Lesson cancellations, makeups, missed chamber ensemble sessions, & refund policy:

1. Makeup requests must be done outside of lesson time: Each student is allowed two makeup lessons per semester. There are two semesters a year: Fall and Winter/Spring. Makeups that are not used in one semester do not carry over into the next semester. Certain days/times have been set aside for these. * See below.
2. Severe Weather: If severe weather is the cause of a cancellation an additional makeup is allowed
3. Changing your regular lesson time: Changing your regular lesson time will be difficult. Please choose a time when you enter the program and commit to it.
4. Teacher Cancellation. If for any reason I have to cancel a lesson every effort will be made to make it up and if that is not possible, a refund will be offered.
5. Students leaving cellochan are responsible for payment through their last lesson only. Lessons paid for, but not used, will be refunded.

Please choose your lesson time and email me your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice. Lessons will be taught from 2:30 - 7 Monday through Friday and assigned on a first come basis. Thursday will end at 5:45 pm due to the need for a rehearsal night option.
